Permanent cosmetic makeup is the art and science of implanting organic colour into the skin. It is putting the right colour in the right place so you can look better naturally. Specialized instruments allow your technician to place colour into the layer of skin known as the dermis. Because the outermost layer of skin, the epidermis is always shedding and renewing itself, you are looking at the colour through a thin veil of skin.
When the procedure is completed the colour will appear darker than the final result. This is because the colour is in BOTH the epidermis and the dermis. The colour in the top layer will flake off during the healing process so that the final colour will be 50% lighter than when initially done. The free 6 week to 3 month touch-up is necessary for a truly finished procedure and in order to have the longest lasting results.
Permanent cosmetic makeup helps replenish what time has taken away and gives back precious time used “putting on your face”. You can save up to 100 hours in a single year that were spent struggling to draw eyebrows on evenly or eyeliner halfway straight. No need to purchase cosmetics that rub off or run and smear during the day.
As permanent make-up professionals, we never do anything that is too trendy. We use colors that are custom blended to compliment your skin tone, eye and hair color to give a soft natural appearance. However, the colors can be changed by blending another color over the original, if you wish.
Not if you look at the long term cost and effect. It costs about one year of cosmetic bills, but is little compared to 1- 5 years of daily make-up expenses. Permanent Cosmetics is a great time saver and worth every penny. Just what we've all been waiting for!
Very natural - your features look more defined. Your friends would never know what the difference was in you unless you told them.
After your consultation visit a 1 to 2 hour appointment will be scheduled for your saturation visit (first procedure). This will be followed by a focus visit to finish the details. All procedures are scheduled 4-6 weeks apart to allow the skin to heal and the color to stabilize.
Topical anesthetics have been developed especially for permanent makeup for all of the specific procedures. These creams and gels are applied to the desired area both before and during the procedure to assure you the most comfortable experience possible. Some people describe the sensation as the “tingling” itchy feeling. It is common to hear that there was not as much pain as was expected. As the anesthetic wears off after the procedure, cool packs can be used for the lip procedures to sooth the area. An additional soothing lip gel with a mild anesthetic is provided for those having lip procedures but is not required after eyeliner or eyebrow procedures.
Permanent make-up is truly long-lasting and will last even longer if you take advantage of your free touch-up in order to complete the procedure. However, as you become accustomed to your new makeup, it’s not uncommon to want more. Your technician will advise you that each procedure will fade up to 50% in the first 3 weeks after it is done. If you want that deep crispness of the initial procedure then you must ensure you get your free touchup done. The darker the colour, such as black for eyeliner, the longer it will stay unchanged in your skin. Natural, delicate colours are often times more vulnerable to the effects of sun, swimming and breakdown by the body. You should also be aware that the top layers of our skin naturally die and slough off over time. For this reason, Janet recommends an annual touch-up at a very minimal charge to her clients in order to keep the desired colour and shape of your procedure.
You’ll look like you’ve had a good cry for several hours following an eyeliner procedure. It is advised to follow your after care instructions. Most people are good to drive themselves but some prefer to have someone with them. It is important to wear sunglasses since your eyes will be temporarily sensitive to light.
** CONTACTS CANNOT BE WORN during a procedure or for the first 24 hours following a procedure. If you suffer from “Dry Eye Disease”, it is recommended that you not have Eyeliner done.
Eyebrows have the least amount of swelling. They will naturally appear darker at first since you will have pigment both in the dermis and laying on the outer layer of skin that will dry and flake off to reveal the final healed colour underneath. There may be some itchiness but no pain. Remember to follow your aftercare instructions.
Your lips will be temporarily swollen and tender after your procedure. Remember that you will also have had your lip-liner done. You will be given a mild anesthetic lip balm that should be used as instructed in order to aid in the proper healing process. Your lips will be tender for a few days. The lips are the only procedure where the colour will appear very vibrant at first and then appear to fade in the 2 to 3 week post procedure process of healing only to reappear as a milder colour that you will love. It is truly the most rewarding of the procedures.
** MUST OBTAIN A PRESCRIPTION FOR VALTREX AND TAKE IT FOR 5 DAYS STARTING ON THE DAY OF THEIR PROCEDURE IF THEY HAVE EVER HAD A FEVER BLISTER IN THEIR LIFETIME.
A scratch test can be done behind the ears if a person is aware of severe skin allergies.
